We've been building food trucks since 2009
Based in Austin, TX, we have built, repaired, and updated hundreds of food trucks over the past 15+ years. Custom fire trucks turned into chicken trucks. Ambulances converted for bee harvesting. If it rolls and serves food, we have probably built it. Food Truck Academy is how we share everything we've learned.

Why we built this
We have seen it all. We wanted to share what we know.
After building hundreds of trucks in Austin, we kept seeing the same thing: people coming to us midway through a build, having already spent money in the wrong places, bought the wrong equipment, or skipped a permit step that was going to cost them months. Good people with real passion, just without the right information early enough.
Food Truck Academy is the guide we hand to every client before the build starts. The real numbers. The permit reality. The things that actually kill trucks in year one. Not hype. Not a sales pitch. Just what we have learned after 15 years of doing this work.
What we believe
We tell you what things actually cost
Most food truck content lowballs the numbers to make the dream feel accessible. We give you the real range, including the things people forget to budget for, like commissary, permit renewals, and the first slow season.
We tell you when it might not work
If your budget is too thin for your target state, we say so. If your timeline is unrealistic, we say so. A bad outcome for you is a bad outcome for us. We would rather lose you as a customer than watch you lose your savings.
We don't sell the dream, we sell the roadmap
Food trucks are a real business. They require real capital, real permits, real operations. The operators who make it are not the most passionate, they are the most prepared. That's what we're here for.
What we are not
A business that profits from your failure
A course that sells you motivation instead of information
An affiliate farm that recommends whatever pays the highest commission
Optimistic about your odds if the fundamentals aren't there
Who this is for
People who are seriously considering a food truck and want the real picture before they commit. People who have already started and need a reliable reference. People who want to know if their plan makes sense, and can handle an honest answer.
This is not for people who just want validation. If you want someone to tell you it'll all work out, there are plenty of other sites for that.
